Fave Grammy Awards Hairstyles

The Grammys are without a doubt the most fun awards show to watch. I love seeing all the avant garde beauty and fashion moments that no one would ever dare rock at one of the other awards shows. There were tons of great looks on Sunday night, but of course I had a few faves. So, without further ado, here are my top 3 Grammy looks of the night:

1. Adele: I was already a big fan, but after seeing her on Sunday in all her glory, I’m officially, 100% obsessed in every sense of the word. From her humility to her new blonde hair - I just adore her and the old hollywood vibe she exudes.

2. Fergie: That coral dress did me in! I loved her sleek high pony and soft make up. She nailed it! I also thought it was cool that she talked (to cutie Ryan Seacreast) about eating healthy and actively working on her awesome figure. Yay Fergie!

3. Rihanna: The dress, the hair, the body - she completely blew me away with her fierce Mai Tai!

I’ve also gotta give a shout out to Dave Grohl. He’s just so amazing; I love him and what he stands for. Oh and he has rad hair.

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, flowers are nice, but they’re a little, well, obvious. That’s why we partnered with one of our fave florists, Celadon & Celery, and came up with a Valentine’s “bouquet” all of our own. What girl wouldn’t get swept off her feet by an adorable bouquet of Drybar gift coasters cleverly styled in a bed of wheatgrass? For a limited time, we’re offering this Valentine’s bouquet for delivery in NYC and LA. Order it online now through February 10 (to ensure delivery on V-Day) and really blow her away this year.

Fave Golden Globe Hairstyles

Awards season has officially started! As much as I like seeing all the beautiful gowns, I absolutely love seeing all the hairstyles that hit the red carpet! I was definitely not disappointed by last night’s Golden Globes locks. I adored the Old Hollywood styles that Amy Poehler and Jenna Dewan chose. Charlize Theron looked beautiful with her low side bun (such a great, easy look to achieve at home) and subtle headband accent (try shopbando.com). And of course you can never go wrong with loose, flow-y locks like Julianne Moore’s casual Cosmo. No big surprise here: Elle Macpherson’s Mai Tai was to-die-for. Ponytails were also a big trend on the carpet, and as usual, Nicole Richie did this look best with her loose pony and heavy bangs.

Oh, and I LOVED this dress. Well played, Paula Patton;)

I Heart Shopping…On Shoedazzle

There are few things better in life than great hair and great shoes! Recently I’ve developed a little obsession with Shoedazzle, the online shoe-scription service, and for January, I refreshed my boot repertoire with the styles above: Junie, Adele and Aubrey. Each pair is $40 a pop, so it makes stocking up easy. Check out how it works here. Now I just have to update my handbags for the new year!

The Drybar Year in Review

I’m seriously blown away by everything that has happened in 2011 - what a great year! And is there any better way to reminisce about the year that was than with a Letterman-style Top Ten List? I don’t think so. So without further ado, here are the top Drybar moments of 2011. Drumroll please…

10. On his morning radio show, Ryan Seacrest convinced Justin Bieber to prank call us and request “The Bieber Blowdry”. Hilarity ensued.

9. I developed a girl-crush on Mila Kunis and her perfect hair. (Exhibit A, below)

8. Around the same time, I started driving a van. No, not a minivan. A Drybar truck. (Ok, alright, I don’t actually drive it personally, but we do use it to make our rounds around town whenever we’re opening a new shop.)

7. Reese Witherspoon wowed us on the October cover of Marie Claire…

6. …And I was both humbled and honored to be called the top beauty expert of 2011 by Marie Claire in the November issue.

5. We teamed up with the brilliant and hilarious Bethenny Frankel to create the Skinnygirl Cocktails Ponytail and to add her Skinnygirl Margaritas and White Cranberry Cosmos to our complimentary cocktail menu.

4. So many amazing things were happening that we shot a sizzle video to sum it all up in just over 2 minutes. That’s how we do it here in Hollywood!

3. Like many other of-the-moment celebutantes, Buttercup launched her own clothing line.

2. In its final season, Entourage, one of my all-time favorite shows, took over Drybar West Hollywood for a day to film an episode.

1. We expanded to the East Coast, opening our first location in NYC‘s Flatiron District. (A second location is opening in Midtown on January 26.) They say if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!

From all of us at Drybar, cheers to the year ahead!

Introducing the Skinnygirl Ponytail!

Who doesn’t love a Skinnygirl Cocktail? We are having so much fun with our latest collaboration, which includes the addition (for a limited time) of the “Skinnygirl Ponytail” to our menu. The Skinnygirl is a stylish high ponytail, perched atop the crown of the head with a bit of lift in front, but of course we can do it any way you please. Check out my demonstration with Bethenny Frankel here.

Alongside the Skinnygirl Ponytail (or any of our other styles), we’re now serving complimentary Skinnygirl Margaritas and White Cranberry Cosmos! As you can see from the pix above, the drinks are already a hit. Come on in and belly up to the bar. See you soon!

Our Signature Holiday Cocktail Recipes, Courtesy of Bash Please

I’m currently planning a holiday party and am lucky enough to be BFFs with event planning superstar Paige Appel of Bash Please. In order to personalize my soiree, I asked her to whip up a couple custom holiday cocktail recipes for me. (I’m actually sipping a Roman Holiday as I write - it gets the creative juices flowing.) Since the holiday season is all about giving, I figured I’d share them. Cheers!

Roman Holiday
1 oz Rum (A sweet, vanilla – y rum like Matusalem)
1 oz Orgeat (classic almond flavored syrup)
1 oz Punt E Mes (Italian spicy sweet vermouth)

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into an “up” glass and garnish with a little grated nutmeg on top.

La Joie Alpins
1.5 oz Gin (a full bodied, softer gin like Plymouth)
3/4 oz Benedictine
3/4 oz ruby port
3/4 oz Real Pomegranate Grenadine

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into an “up” glass and garnish with a few pomegranate seeds. Can also be served on the rocks.
