I’m so psyched to officially announce the opening of Drybar Manhattan Beach! Rudy, our General Manager (pictured above, left), and I have spent the last couple of weeks putting on the finishing touches, training our fantastic staff, and making sure everything is absolutely perfect for the beach-dwellers to descend. We opened our doors at 8 am this morning, and we’ve been rocking out tons of sexy beach hair ever since. I think this shop may become the official home of the Mai Tai ;)

I’m SO excited to introduce “The Morning After” Drybar Shower Caps! Ever since launching Drybar over two years ago, I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect shower cap that would help extend the life of our gorgeous blowouts by a few days. But I couldn’t find one. So, after exhausting all my search options, I decided to make it myself. “The Morning After” is the result of me testing literally hundreds of existing shower caps and is created according to my own picky specifications. For starters, it’s roomier than most shower caps, allowing for lots of hair. It’s lined with terry cloth, so it won’t trap humidity the way plastic caps do. There’s a special cotton band that goes around the forehead to avoid that annoying red mark that many caps leave. Plus, it comes in a super adorable box, that, along with the $15 price, makes it perfect for gift giving.

“The Morning After” is available online now and in all of our stores, starting this Friday, March 9.

Like most girls, I love a good red carpet and seeing what the stars are wearing, but for me, the most important part of a killer red carpet look is of course the hair! After all, you can have the perfect dress, but without beautiful hair to bring it all together, it just doesn’t work, right? 

There were lots of great looks at last night’s Oscars, but there were definitely a few that really stood out. Angelina Jolie, who usually keeps it uber-simple, switched things up with highlights and a loose Mai Tai that kept her Atelier Versace gown from looking too serious. Jessica Chastain also hit it out of the park. I’m obsessed with her natural red hair and causal beachy look. Penelope Cruz had a major red carpet moment working a retro 1920s style that, IMHO really suited her.

Uptinis were a huge trend on the carpet, but the two I loved the most were Emma Stone and Kate Mara. Emma’s knotted Uptini was both elegant and classic and allowed the dramatic neckline of her dress to have the spotlight, and I adored the sexy, side swept look of Kate’s hair.

Aloha from Hawaii! No, we’re not opening a Drybar here (yet…). But my family is finally taking our first real vacation since opening our first shop back in Feb 2010. We’re having such a wonderful time here in Maui. We’ve been whale watching, on a submarine ride, and enjoying lots of swimming, lazing around on the hammock and getting massages while the kids hit the (lifesaving) Kid’s Camp provided by the hotel! As you can tell by the sad pic glued to our phones, we haven’t completely disconnected, but that’s because we are gearing up for the grand opening of our newest (#14!) location set to open on Friday, March 16th in Manhattan Beach. Until then, it’s back to my trashy magazine beach reading :)
