Drybar is a brand new “blow dry bar” concept created around a very simple idea: No cuts. No color. Just blowouts for only $35. You see, we believe that almost everyone (even us pros) prefers having someone else blow out their hair. Why? It just looks better! We also believe there has to be a better option than paying $60+ at a traditional salon, or going to a less-than-desirable discount chain. But there’s not. So, we decided to make one.
alli is the founder and blow dry maven. Before becoming a full time mom to Grant (6) and Kit (4), Alli had a career in public relations working with clients such as Faith Hill, Paul McCartney and Keith Urban. She’s a professional hair stylist, trained by Toni & Guy, and spent several years working under the late, great John Sahag in NYC.
In 2008 she began a side business called Straight-at-Home, which provided in home blow-outs, strictly on a referral basis in L.A. Her business and popularity quickly outgrew her one-woman show, so she decided to expand and start Drybar.
michael is the CEO of Drybar. He may not have any hair, but what he does have is tons of experience building and growing world class brands. Michael spent almost 10 years at Yahoo! in numerous management roles, including Vice President of Brand Marketing. He is also the co-founder of Ground Break Marketing, a full-service sales and marketing firm which has helped companies such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Las Vegas Sands Corp, and The Plaza Hotel develop and market mixed-use real estate projects around the world.
karen is the President & COO. As we continue our rapid expansion across the globe, we quickly figured out we needed someone leading us who, um, had actually done this before. In addition to being an awesome mother of 3 daughters (who each appreciate a great blowout), Karen has spent the last 20 years helping companies like Boston Market, Jamba Juice, and most recently, Pinkberry, with major national roll-outs. We could not be more excited (and relieved) to have Karen on the team.
cameron is the creative mind behind Drybar’s branding, identity and website. He got his start in advertising as an art director for Merkley and Partners 12 years ago in NYC. He’s worked on ad campaigns for Mercedes Benz, BMW Motorcycles, Fila, Activision, IKEA and Southern California Honda Dealers. More recently he served as a creative director at the prestigious ad agency Secret Weapon Marketing responsible for the Jack in Box and Southern California Honda Dealer commercials.
sarah is Drybar’s “Spirit Director.” She loves making people feel special. Through selective recruitment and manager training, her goal is for every guest to be given the most amazing, over-the-top customer service. When she’s not spreading the love around a shop (or dancing in the breakroom), she’s busy supporting our customers’ causes and finding new ways for Drybar to give back to the welcoming neighborhoods we’ve joined. Sarah graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in finance, and spent a year at Deloitte Consulting in NYC before deciding to jump off the corporate ladder and join us!
tessa is our Marketing Manager (and brand cheerleader). She coordinates new store marketing plans, executes events and promotions, and establishes new partnerships in the beauty and fashion industries. After four years working for customer service leader, Nordstrom, and obtaining her degree from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!), she decided to move south to the sunshine. When she’s not working on all things marketing, Tessa enjoys being outside, at the beach, or at the pool. One day she hopes to bring Drybar back home to the Pacific Northwest, where she plans on making a yellow rain jacket (how on brand is that?) part of her wardrobe.
For marketing related opportunities, Tessa’s your gal! .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
roxanne is, well, a total rock star. With more than 11 years of experience working in salons and spas, both as a licensed stylist as well as in customer service and management, we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have “Foxy Roxy” as our California Regional Manager.
kilah is the Accounting Analyst, membership guru and systems expert. She comes to us from Atlanta with 10 years of banking, training and customer service experience. Kilah’s passion (other than Drybar of course) is dance, so she loves the fact that we keep her on her toes!
lori is our Client Relations Manager and Party Planner extraordinaire. She makes sure our clients are happy, smiling and loving Drybar. She comes to us as a licensed esthetician who spent years in the salon/spa industry and delivering over the top customer service is her forte. When she’s not being a Drybar worker bee Lori enjoys sushi, her kitty cat Kevin-Arnold and this really obscure movie franchise called Twilight (Team Edward).
If you ever want to throw a Drybar soiree or maybe just chit chat about your experiences with Drybar, Lori is your girl! You can reach her at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
josh is our architect and designer. Or as we like to call him, the Messiah. ;) We could go on and on about all his accomplishments and his fancy Harvard pedigree, but how about we leave it at this: Josh is the best architect we’ve ever met. In fact, he may be the best architect that’s ever lived. Which makes it very easy to explain why Drybar looks the way it does. Thank you Mr. Heitler. Thank you.
dena is the social media goddess at Drybar. She is also the founder and editor of TresChicNow.com
(a style and beauty site), which is what led her to Alli and Drybar in the first place. Dena’s work has also appeared in Daily Candy, C Magazine and Refinery29, among many other cool media outlets. She’s a lover of all things luxe, fashion obsessed, music junkie. Also referred to as “gadget girl” by some of her friends, Dena shops the Apple App Store with nearly the same excitement she experiences while perusing the racks at Barney’s CO-OP. Her steadfast dedication to Facebook, Twitter and blogging keeps our loyal barflies up to date with Drybar news and cool things we covet.
marissa is the Managing Partner of the Pacific Palisades Drybar, and with 10 years of management and buying experience for Elyse Walker’s high-end boutique, she’s the perfect lady for the job. A former Brentwood “regular”, she thought to herself, “I could get my hair blown out every day if I were to open a Drybar in my own backyard!”, so she did, bringing the Drybar magic to the Palisades. She’s extremely happy to be part of the family, and we’re just as happy to have her!
lindsay is the Managing Partner of Drybar San Francisco. She’s a professional hairstylist with 12 years of experience. Lindsay started her career with Toni & Guy training under the renowned International Artistic Director, James Morrison. She eventually set off on her own and established herself as one of the premier hairstylists in San Francisco. After taking some time off to raise her 2 adorable little boys (Charlie 3 and Benjamin 1.5), she was ready to get back into the industry.
Lindsay stumbled upon our 1st baby, Brentwood, shortly after it opened and was smitten. She put down the scissors and immediately set out to bring Drybar north to San Francisco - and the women of the Bay area couldn’t be happier. We feel the same way!
amy is the Operating Partner of Drybar Scottsdale. She found us while on a trip to LA shortly after our first shop in Brentwood opened. Amy was ready to go back to work after being a stay at home mom, in search of the right fit. With over 15 years experience in the beauty industry as an executive with the Estee Lauder Companies, and a curly hair gal always in search of a great blowout, Drybar was a dream come true. Which is exactly how the women of Scottsdale felt when Amy opened the first Drybar, AZ!
buttercup. Everyone used to just call me “that upside down yellow blow dryer”. But Alli was kind enough to give me a name. And a home. I cherish my role as the official mascot of Drybar, and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of something so special. See you soon!
